Acacia cognata ‘Copper Tips’ Copper Tips River Wattle 300mm AP Pot
Acacia cognata 'Copper Tips' is a graceful evergreen native with weeping foliage, copper new growth and soft yellow spring flowers.
🌱 Size & Pot
Supplied in a 300mm AP pot at approximately 1.2m tall. This is the upright, larger-growing form of ‘Copper Tips’, not a dwarf or prostrate Acacia.
☀️ Sun & Soil
Best grown in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. It adapts to a range of soil types once established and has good drought tolerance. ‘Copper Tips’ is frost tolerant and suited to cool-climate gardens, although young plants establish best with some protection from extreme exposure. 🍂 Foliage & Seasonal Changes
Evergreen with long, fine, softly weeping foliage that creates a light, flowing appearance. Fresh growth develops distinctive coppery-bronze tips before maturing to green, providing attractive colour contrast throughout the year.
🌳 Growth Habit & Mature Size
Develops into a fast-growing, upright large shrub or small tree with a graceful cascading habit. Expect approximately 3–5m high × 2–3m wide at maturity, depending on conditions and pruning. Plantmark
💡 Special Characteristics
An Australian native valued for its combination of upright structure and soft weeping foliage. Small pale yellow, ball-shaped wattle flowers appear around late Winter to Spring, adding a subtle seasonal display. Plantmark
🌸 Planting Ideas
Excellent as a feature plant, informal screen, native garden specimen or soft backdrop for lower-growing shrubs and grasses. Its fine foliage also works particularly well against fences, walls and stronger architectural planting.
📏 Hedge Spacing
For an informal screen, plant approximately 1.5–2m apart. Allow more space if you want each plant to develop its natural flowing form.
